"On September 25th, 1915, my grandparents, Robert and Lucia Whitehill, accompanied by two friends, began a three-day recreational hike on several of the highest peaks of the White Mountains of New Hampshire."--Foreword. "The images are lino-cuts and the text is Book Antiqua, printed from photopolymer plates on Rives lightweight white paper. Images and text were hand-printed on a Vandercook No. 4 Proof Press, in the studio of DWRI Letterpress, under the guidance of Dan Wood and Colin Frazer."--Colophon. Case bound in linen book cloth, cover includes closing flap. "The size and format of this book is derived from my grandfather's 1916 hiking guide, which for practical purposes must have fit nicely in his pocket."--Colophon. Second colophon page includes bibliographical references. Library's copy is no. 16 in an edition of 25, initialed by the artist. Letterpress printing (polymer plates) Linoleum block printing.
